ABC News special looks to slam public schools
Published by BoardBuzz: NSBA's daily weblog January 12th, 2006 in UncategorizedLooking for something to do Friday night? Then pull up a chair in front of your television for an ABC News 20/20 program entitled “Stupid in America: How We Cheat Our Kids.” With a headline like that, and after reading the show’s preview, there may be good reason to hold low expectations that the program will be fair and balanced. We’ll see.
However, there’s no better defense than a good offense (didn’t someone famous say that?), so you can get ahead of the curve by reading up on the progress that public education is making in your state and across the nation. Find a great list of resources on NSBA’s web site here. Will any of these statistics make it into tonight’s 20/20 broadcast?
Also helpful is the NEA’s state-by-state breakdown of public education progress.
Once you’ve watched, BoardBuzz invites you to pen a thought on the 20/20 message board here.
